The Turns our Lives take are Awesome!
Last week on Thursday we took our Chrysler Town & Country to a most favored shop in Kingwood, Texas. It was making an unusual sound that I thought should be checked out. I thought perhaps a pulley bearing was going out.
I was wrong.
It was much more serious than that. The "flex-plate" was cracked all the way around. It wasn't dangerous yet, but it could have caused a lot of trouble. In order to do the repair they had to remove transmission, remove and replace the flex-plate with a new one, and then replace the transmission. I asked the mechanic what might have caused such a failure. He responded that nothing I could have done could have caused the problem. He sees that kind of parts failure pretty regularly. It isn't just with Chrysler, but all the makes with front wheel drive have similar problems. Usually it happens at about the 90,000 mile neighborhood. While our van has substantially less miles it was a fortunate happenstance.
We got the car back from Kenneth's Complete Auto Care shop early this morning, and then we found out that my Princess Bride's mother passed away. We will drive to Southern California because I am timid about flying these days considering my current health issues. It isn't so much about the airplane as it is about the long treks in the airports. We feel that our breakdown was fortunate because it happened here rather in the middle of the desert somewhere between here and there.
Our daughter Janice will meet us in El Paso and then drive with us from there.
The funeral for Donna Maxine Gardner will be Saturday at 10:00 am at the Colton Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been asked to do the eulogy. It ought to be interesting. Well, at least I'm planning it to be interesting.
In other matters, I went to see my Texas Cardiologist yesterday. He says my heart is boring, but he is interested in why my legs keep swelling. He thinks he has the cure for that. I go for a testing
in December to see.
