The Blacks' Mission Report

We have nearly used up 1/2 of our available time to get things ready to move out of our house.  We've taken several loads of things to storage, but still have much to do. Sister Black has been receiving some tutoring from an MTC tutor so that she can learn the Spanish language.  Her lessons are going well, and actually she is doing much better than she thinks.  In my own not-so-humble opinion she was helped in this effort by our serving a Church-Service mission a few years ago teaching Daily Dose.  We assisted members of the community to learn how to get along in English no matter what their primary language was.  She taught them English, and I helped with the translation when needed. Sister Black's tutor is a young lady who spent time in Mexico with her family and then was called to serve in Spain as a missionary.  Her Spanish is very good, but she doesn't use quite the same vernacular I learned as a missionary in Uruguay.   She has not enoug...

We both finished reading the Book of Mormon in English during the past week.  Now we begin reading it again, but this time we'll read it in Spanish.  Sister Black enjoyed two Spanish tutoring lessons.  Her tutor is in Provo working at the Missionary Training Center.  Her sessions are done via Zoom.  It works pretty well.  She is learning much faster than she thinks she is.  Her tutor is pretty impressed.  Sister Black thinks she is learning slowly. On another front, we managed to take 4 book cases and their books to storage.  Most of my study is packed up and moved to storage.  We still have much to do and time is running quickly.  We have only 48 days to have everything packed up, moved out of the house, and the house cleaned.  We have only 55 days until we report at the MTC. We have begun to pack up our belongings that will go into storage.  The storage container is 8' X 40' and we will likely fill it completely. On Friday I purchased two additional racks, 78" X 24" X  72".  Silly me, I thought the 72 inches meant they were 72 inches wide.  Nope, they are 78" wide and 72" high.  So my careful planning had to go to Plan "B".  It took me two days to get the two racks set up.  I can't work very long at a time.  I'm usually only good for about 2 hours of labor at a time. The packing plan will still work, but just not as I had planned it.  We have three 48 X 24 X 72 racks already.  Hopefully we won't need additional racks. We hope to have our storage stuff all packed away before Christmas, with exception of our bed and dresser and perhaps some cooking/eating supplies.
