We Did a Little Exploring today
Yesterday we noted that we are returning to normal after having been sick one and then the other for several weeks. I haven't missed any Sunday meetings, but Sister Black did miss last week. We're feeling pretty good today.
This morning we went to Beaumont for a doctor appointment. It was just a "how-are-you-doing" check in. Nothing to write about.
But, since this is preparation day we decided to see if we could find the Gulf of Mexico on our way back from Beaumont. So we did. We went to Bolivar Peninsula and across to Galveston on the ferry and then back home. Bolivar Peninsula was interesting. We found houses on stilts.
And they are all this way on the peninsula, even the business ares built on stilts. Some of them are 20-25 ft off the ground. Some of them have elevators they can pull up to avoid the water when it gets high. But when we got to Galveston they are all built as we generally see them elsewhere.
Here we are at the beach on Bolivar Peninsula:
It was nice and cool on the beach, but we didn't go in the water. We noticed that nobody else did either. Most of the people we saw were beach combers looking for treasure with metal detectors or just looking around to see what the sea had brought to the shore. We did see people fishing (for the dinner, we wondered?) We didn't notice the distinctive odor that we always smelled on the California beaches, and for that I am grateful.
Tomorrow we go to The Woodlands for a podiatrist appointment, then if we are doing pretty well, we'll go to the temple.
Wednesday we go to Pasadena for Zone Conference. It was supposed to be held last week, but we got rained/flooded out. The rain last Tuesday/Wednesday was so hard we wondered if we would have to swim our way out of our apartment. It didn't affect us, but it did many people in South Houston and Pasadena.
Thanks for reading...I hope you enjoy it.

It was a long day, though. We left the house at about 10:45 a.m. and didn't get back until about 7:15 p.m.
