Update for 10/14/2018

On Thursday we received Email messages from President Hewlett and the Texas Houston East Mission staff welcoming us and giving us some information that will help us in our preparations.
Included was a request to complete a form that will let President Hewitt know us a little better even before we arrive.

We have been instructed to obtain copies of "Preach My Gospel" and begin studying the topics with diligence and dedication with particular attention to Chapter 3.  We have a copy of the Spanish version, and I can read it, but it is not easy for me.  There were no copies available at Deseret Book so I ordered two copies from the Church Distribution Center.

We were given some suggestions with regard to housing and clothing.  We already knew that the Houston area is quite humid and receives much more rain than we have been experiencing in Southern Utah but those suggestions were welcome.  The mission will provide a furnished apartment for us.  We were told all we would need to furnish is sheets and towels.  We could be surprised but, I have never been much impressed with the quality of most folks' kitchen knives so we will take our own knives and sharpener.

On Friday we received a message from the Missionary Department asking us to get our flu shots and complete other inoculations that may be needed at least 2 weeks prior to arriving at the MTC.

Last night we did some missionary shopping and picked up two umbrellas and clothing for Sister Black.

We still have a little shopping to do and much preparation to do to get our household stuff ready to put into storage.
